²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø Welcomes David Deerson

FIRE is delighted to welcome David Deerson to our staff as a program associate for ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø Campus Outreach! David joins the growing FIRE Student Network team as we gear up for our annual summer conference and make exciting outreach plans for this summer and for back-to-school season in the fall. David’s history with ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø as a 2011 summer intern and an active participant of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹Ù꿉۪s programs, along with his professional experience, make him a fantastic addition to our team as we work to expand our network of students, faculty, and alumni dedicated to defending civil liberties on their campuses.
David is a 2013 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) with a B.A. in philosophy and history and a minor in philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE). While in school, he served as president of the UNC Young Americans for Liberty, with whom he won YAL’s national free speech activism award. His undergraduate activism also earned him a spot in ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹Ù꿉۪s Prometheus Society. David joins ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵAPP¹ÙÍø after gaining experience working professionally in college outreach and activism coordination at Students For Liberty.
David will be one of the inaugural staff members based in our new Washington, D.C., office. We are excited to have David on staff, so please join us in welcoming him!
